FabLab

So, what’s a FabLab? Glad you asked! FabLab is short for a fabrication laboratory or workshop offering digital fabrication tools. Numerous have been opened to the public in recent years and this particular FabLab was opened on Marymount Paris’ campus in 2017.

The fab lab program began as a collaboration between the Grassroots Invention Group and the Center for Bits and Atoms at the Media Lab in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a grant from the National Science Foundation (Washington, D.C.) in 2001. The idea was initiated to explore how the content of information relates to its physical representation and how an under-served community can be powered by technology at the grassroots level. Cool right?

The idea : as a fablab for children, bright colors are a must, but we also wanted to integrate different aspects that spoke to a fablab. The logo feature a photo aperture symbol (like looking through a camera lens to focus) and overlays in the colors of the different elements in a risograph style.
